Case study · Perficient internal tools
Delia
An internal tool for directors and management to track every project, from the first pursuit to delivery, instead of across scattered tools and manual updates.

01 Scattered information
Following a pursuit or a project meant jumping between tools and asking people for updates. There was no single place to see where things stood, so oversight was slow and inconsistent.
I started with stakeholder interviews to understand the current process and its pain points, then mapped the flows from a new pursuit to an active project.
02 One board per stage
The app is organized in five areas: Home, Accounts, Pursuits, Projects and Projections. Pursuits work as a board, from Open through Preanalysis, Engineering Review and In Validation, so the state of the pipeline is visible at a glance.
Filters by business unit and portfolio narrow it down, and each card keeps the essentials: account, portfolio, point of contact and quick status icons.
03 Projects in depth
Each project has a detail view split into tabs: Details, Pillars, Project Health, Risks and Investments. Business and financial information sits first; health and risk are one click away.
Portfolio views list every project with its account, team size, contract type and sales business unit.

04 Components and guidelines
I built the components the app needed (tables with filters and tags, project cards, status indicators) and added them to the internal design system so other tools could reuse them.
Every input has its states documented in light and dark themes: label, placeholder, feedback message, error and disabled. Specs like these made the handoff to developers smoother.

05 Handoff and outcome
I worked with the developers from the start to check what was feasible, and met regularly with the product owner to set priorities. Final screens went to development in Figma with component notes and specs.
The tool was implemented and brought pursuits and projects into a single view.
Being the only designer on the project taught me to think through the whole process, from the first interview to the handoff.
Designed at Perficient for internal use. Screens use sample data; client names are fictional. Perficient is a trademark of its owner.
